UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA PSME
(Pantheon Sorbonne MSc. in Economics)
The Pantheon Sorbonne Master in Economics is the first year of Master studies in the European Credit Transfer System, equivalent to an MSc in Economics.
Upon successful completion of the 1st year PSME program, you have the opportunity to apply to one of the 20 specialized 2nd year Master programs at one of the most reputed Economics departments in France and in the world.
Created in 2007, The Panthéon Sorbonne Master in Economics is meeting a triple challenge:
•Train international English-speakers in the field of Economics at the Master level and in French.
•Prepare students for further specialization in the 2nd year master programs in France (Ex. Panthéon Sorbonne and Paris School of Economics, Toulouse School of Economics) or elsewhere in Europe (Ex. London School of Economics).
•Build a world-wide network of highly educated, open-minded individuals with expertise in various fields of economics.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
•Students with a bachelor’s degree in the field of Economics or related field with substantial coursework and knowledge in Economics and Mathematics.
•Professionals with at least 2 years experience striving to enhance their initial background or are interested in a career change.
SELECTION PROCESS
►International english speakers : CV, letter of motivation, 2 letters of recommendation, academic transcripts, bachelor’s degree, an English language certificate for non-native English speakers, a copy of passport, PSME Application form downloadable at psme.univ-paris1.fr We accept applications through CEF and Campus France.
►French students : Licence in Economics + English language certificate , CV, motivation letter, 2 letters of recommendation, academic transcripts, PSME Application form.
All students should check psme.univ-paris1.fr for up to date procedures and accepted test scores.
MAIN CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Most PSME students complete a specialized 2nd year of graduate studies offered at the University before beginning their career. Those that complete further studies in the 2nd year or go for further training in a PhD hold high level positions in the public or private sector.
Some students choose to find work directly after the PSME and hold positions such as Economic Advisor, Analyst, Associate, Officer, Consultant, or Manager in Government agencies, banks, or in the private or public sector.

MISCELLANEOUS
A graduation ceremony and annual meeting with alumni takes place in the fall. Several networking and alumni events are held throughout the year, including an annual Charity Event in the Spring.

THE DISSERTATION
Students select a research topic in relation with their professional project and choose an advisor among the program’s professors.
The master thesis must be turned in by the end of the academic year.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
•Teaching staff : mainly academics and some professionals.
•Course duration : 588 hours, 60 ECTS, September until June.
•Optional Internship : 3 months min or 6 monthsmax part time, no credit.
•Location of teaching : Maison des Sciences Economiques (Paris 13th), Sorbonne (Paris 5th), or Panthéon (Paris 5th).
SPECIALIZED TRACKS
In addition to the general program, PSME proposes three specialized tracks, with specialization courses in these fields.
The Financial Economics track includes specialization courses in finance (Financial Markets, International Finance, Principles of Finance, Applied data Science in Finance (Python), etc). Students who are admitted for double enrollment in this track will obtain an equivalence with the Master 1 «Monnaie, Banque, Finance, Assurance» and get a direct access to one of the Master 2 programs in the Monnaie, Banque, Finance, Assurance field.
The Development Economics track include specialization courses in development (Development policies and Development Macroeconomics, empirical methods for research). Students who are accepted for a double enrollment in this track will obtain an equivalence with the Master 1 «Economie du Développement» and get a direct access to one of the Master 2 programs in this field (Ex. Development Economics (in English) or «Economie du Développement Durable» (In English and French).
The International Economics track includes specialization courses (European Integration, Applied Finance). Students who are admitted for double enrollment in this track will obtain an equivalence with the Master 1 «Economie Internationale / Economie de l’Environnement» and get a direct access to one of the Master 2 programs in the Economie Internationale et environnement field (in French with some courses in English).

Programme
The 1st semester consists of core curriculum with each core course including small group tutorial sessions to apply and put to practice with what you learn in the main lectures.
Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economic Growth, Econometrics, French language classes or other language for French speakers
2nd semester consists of a list of courses offered in English and French that you can choose from to further your specialization. You will continue to follow a French or other language course and will also complete a master thesis on a topic of your choice in line with your future career or study ambitions.
